The first stomach bug of the flu season has entered the Broaddus household. What’s sad is that I’m pretty sure we picked it up at our well visits to the doctor on Friday. Go figure. I’ve decided that we need well doctors and sick doctors.
So far there are only two down, and I’d like to keep it that way. When we get a bug in our house, the first thing we do is separate the sick ones from the well ones. I try to keep them confined to one area so it’s easier to disinfect.
It’s nice once the kids are old enough to make it to the toilet or the lined garbage can provided in the sick area. We are almost to that point. Colton still needs a little reminding, but the others are good. This has helped it to not spread so quickly.
My least favorite part about the kids being sick is how dry my hands get. Every time I clean up puke, empty a sick can, touch, cuddle… I wash my hands thoroughly. Unfortunately, it leaves them dry and painful. Yes, I lotion, but they’re still dry.
We are pretty neurotic around here with the disinfectant when kids get sick. Guess what? In our 12+ years of parenting, we’ve never had a bug go through the entire family! That always surprises me.
So here I sit, 3 kids at school, 1 at gym and 2 on the couch. My hands hurt, but my heart is full. I’ll secretly enjoy the extra snuggles, but I will have a towel between myself and the snuggler.
Being an old lady my hands are always dry. I use Miracell serious support cream to put moisture back in naturally. A tube from Amazon will arrive at your house tomorrow. Praying the bug passes through quickly. Love, Laudle La
