Hello π, today we are going back to my elbow injury.
(If you get grossed out easily, I would recommend not reading π this post)
Alright, back to the story. Did it hurt π’? Oh yeah! When my coach saw the fall he darted over to me. He said, “That is why we don’t put our arms behind us when we fall.” I was too hurt to respond. My coach grabbed me some ice, all I could think was, “No one told me not to put my arms behind me.” When my momma got there she helped me get my leggings and my shirt π on. We got my sister from her practice and rushed to the urgent care. They took my X-ray and came back and said that I had fractured my elbow and that I needed to see an orthopedist and if I couldn’t get in with one that I needed to go to the ER. I All they did was give me a sling. It was the Friday after Thanksgiving and there were no orthopedists open. My mom and dad discussed and came to the agreement that my mom had to take me to ER. Well we went to ER and they said it was fractured and dislocated, but they didn’t think it would need surgery. On Monday, we went to my orthopedist and he looked at the X-ray and said it was completely dislocated and fractured. He told us the only way to fix it was by putting 2 pins in my arm requiring surgery. All I wanted was a healed elbow, I didn’t want surgery, but I needed it. My mom got it scheduled for the next day. “The next day! That is so soon!” Oh well π I had no choice.
The day I broke my elbow, we were planning to go to Santa’s Wonderland. That obviously couldn’t happen. We rescheduled it for Monday (the night before my surgery). Santa’s Wonderland was cold. I tried to enjoy it, but I was in pain and nervous about my upcoming surgery. I got a stuffed penguin π§ from the gift π shop, and a hot chocolate π« , it was yummy π!
Next day we went to surgery, when they called my name, I was out of breath. I was so nervous π¬. They took me back, and they asked my mom if I wanted the numbing medicine for the IV, she said, “I don’t know, ask her.” So the nurse sat next to me, she showed me the needle and asked me, “Is this scary?” I nodded my head. Then she asked me, “Is this scary?” as she showed me the plastic part. No πΆ. She said that the plastic is all that would go in my body and it would just pinch a little bit. She told me that the IV would be the hardest part of my day. When she was done, I thought, “If that’s the worst, maybe this won’t be so bad.” As she was doing my IV the doctor came in and asked me, “Are you ready?” I said, “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
Stay tuned for the next post about my injury…
Cute little panguin!
