Grandma or kid?

Hi guys, today’s post is about my newest injury.  I currently have bursitis in my shoulder. Bursitis is one of those things that mostly older people get.  I have it because I have an extra bone in my shoulder than rubs on the bursa sac.  My mom thinks it’s funny when she takes me to physical therapy and the older people ask her why I’m there.  When she tells them I have bursitis, they get excited and say, “Me too!”  I’ve recently taken up crocheting by watching youtube.  My mom is convinced I’m a grandma in a 10 year olds body.

You may ask, how did this happen? Being honest it just happened from always using my arms as legs. It all started in April.  My shoulder was hurting, and it just kept getting worse.  I got to the point where I couldn’t even hang on the bar, which wasn’t fun since I had just gotten my fly away and really wanted to perfect it.  My coach told my mom she needed to take me to the doctor, thinking the doctor would say it was no big deal. Well,  at the first appointment he told me it was a growth plate injury, and I needed to rest for two months and come back.  I was thinking “two months! That is way to long.”😒 I waited those two months and came back, I still wasn’t better. Again he told us, “Come back in two more months, if she’s not better by then we can do an MRI.” I came back and he said it was time for an MRI (at that point I was ready for anything). After the MRI he scheduled a follow up appointment. I was scared 😟 for the results, but wanted to get back to gymnastics πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ. That is when he told me, that I had bursitis and an extra bone in my shoulder. For now, he said the best thing to then was to do a cortisone injection (he wanted to do surgery for the extra bone, but can’t since I am still growing). I really didn’t want a shot but I took it and it felt a little better. At least it could lift my arm a little higher, but it was still pretty painful. At the next appointment he referred me to a physical therapist (Aka pt) to help strengthen my muscles πŸ’ͺ🏻.

It’s been a long injury with a long recovery (which I am currently still in). I just can’t wait to get back on the mat and do my thing.  I was suppose to be competing optionals this year.  Oh well, I guess it can wait.  I already know the floor music I want.  I can’t wait to dance to it.

There’s more to this story, and more will come, so stay tuned…

Waiting out my injury with my new hobby.
